King County Library System, Five Design-Build Libraries
Various Locations, Washington
Firm: BNBuilders, Inc.
This design-build project for the King County Library System (KCLS) consisted of five new libraries in five rural King County locations: Black Diamond, Carnation, Fall City, Auburn, and Snoqualmie. The new facilities were built from the ground-up and ranged in construction cost from $1.8 – $2.2 million. A tight and concurrent schedule allowed for design and construction to be completed in two years. This was the first time that KCLS had used the designbuild delivery method. Although not LEED® certified, the libraries are all LEED® compliant.
