These design–build projects for the King County Library System included five new libraries in five different locations: Black Diamond, Carnation, Fall City, Auburn, and Snoqualmie. This is the first time that KCLS has used the design-build delivery method. The project included demolition of the existing facilities as well as coordination of owner move-out and move-in activities. The five libraries, ranging in construction cost from $1.8 - $2.2 million each, feature community gathering spaces and meeting rooms.

Although these projects are not LEED® certified, they are all LEED® compliant. Sustainable elements include enhanced stormwater design, energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, commissioning, onsite recycling, and recycled materials. BNB also incorporated bicycle racks, public transportation access, reduced heat island effect, reduced light pollution, water efficient landscaping, water use reduction, lighting controls, and daylighting.
